Iraq was 'no direct danger'
Tony Blair was warned by his intelligence chiefs that going to war against Iraq would increase the risk of terrorist attacks against Britain and the West. The Joint Intelligence Committee, which oversees the security services, told the Prime Minister in February that the real threat was not from Iraq itself but from al Qaeda and similar groups. And it went on: "That threat would be heightened by military action against Iraq."
